Cora, who the Rangers signed to a minor league deal last week, played in 62 games for the New York Mets this season before being released.
Cora, 34, has played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland, Boston and the Mets over his 13 seasons in the major leagues. He has posted a .244 batting average and .311 on-base percentage over 1,178 career games.
To make room on the active and 40-man rosters, the Rangers designated infielder Joaquin Arias for assignment. Arias batted .276 in 50 games for Texas this season.
