Chivas USA acquires Talley from Real Salt Lake

05/10/2008 - Carson, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Chivas USA acquired defender Carey Talley from Real Salt Lake on Friday for a conditional pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft in 2010 or 2011.

Talley, an 11-year MLS veteran and 1999 MLS Cup champion, has played 256 games in his career with 18 goals and 25 assists.

"Carey is an experienced, consistent defender who can play both in the middle and on the outside," Chivas USA coach Preki said. "We're glad he's joined the squad and think he'll be a good fit for us as we move forward."

Talley played four seasons for D.C. United, winning an MLS Cup in 1999. He then played two years for Kansas City (2002-03) and two for Dallas (2004-2005) before moving to Real Salt Lake, where he was in his third season. So far this season, Talley played four games for Real Salt Lake and scored one goal.

Chivas USA also waived defender Chris Pozniak and announced defender Dan Gargan retired.
